Anish Kapoor

I stand in solidarity with the people who work at Tate. Their struggle to keep their jobs matters to us all. Tate pays lip service to good working practice and to equal rights but sadly its record is poor. Recent events show that Tate falls a long way short of the respect that it must afford to all its employees. It is disgraceful that at a time when it is making over 300 people redundant Tate feels it right to continue outsourcing staff through other agencies and thus have a workforce which is not unionised and without appropriate worker’s rights.

I call on all my colleagues - Artists, Curators and Art world professionals to join the protest against the callous attitude of Tate. Art requires open access and availability. This can only be true if the people who work in our cultural institutions have the dignity they deserve.
