I am shocked and saddened that over 300 workers at Tate are being made redundant. As an artist with work in the Tate collection, I stand in solidarity with these workers and support their demands.

Now more than ever we must work together as a community to support and care for one another. Now is a time to put people first. We all must show empathy and compassion for each other.

This should also come from institutions we work for and are part of. If Tate is serious about equality it is appalling that these job losses will disproportionately affect the most diverse, the least well paid and most disadvantaged staff. This is a clear example of structural inequality.
